Last Page Test

Sorry, that was a bit dramatic. Here's what I'm attempting to highlight. What would happen if some unkind soul ripped out the last page of your book? How would that affect the reader (alone on a desert island with no means of finding out the ending). Maybe this could also be applied to all the other pages. What is their function, are they essential to telling your story?
